What We Believe
Our beliefs are based solely on scripture.
GOD: We believe in one God, eternally existing in three Persons: Father, Son and Holy Spirit. (Genesis 1:26; Isaiah 45;5-7; Matthew 28:19; Ephesians 4:6)
JESUS CHRIST: We believe in the virgin birth, the sinless perfection, the bodily resurrection and ascension into Heaven of Jesus Christ, and His present life there for us as High Priest and Advocate. (Isaiah 7:14; I John 13; Philippians 2:5-11; I John 2:2; Hebrews 7:25)
THE HOLY SPIRIT: We believe the Holy Spirit was sent from the Father by the Son as a personal and powerful presence in the world; whose purpose is to convict the world of sin, righteousness, and judgment. The Holy Spirit is given at salvation, not through a second work of Grace. He, by means of spiritual gifts, instructs and empowers the saints to boldly testify of Jesus Christ and carry out the work of Christ in the world. (I Corinthians 2:10-14; John 14:26; Romans 8:9)
THE SCRIPTURES: We believe that both the Old and New Testaments are verbally inspired by God and are inerrant in the original writings. Through the providence of God, the Scriptures have been preserved and are the supreme and final and adequate authority in faith and life. (II Timothy 3:16; II Peter 1:20-21)
BAPTISM: We believe that the Scriptures set forth immersion as the only mode of baptism because it pictures the believers death, burial and resurrection with Christ into newness of life, and that it is a command given by the Lord to all believers. (Romans 6:1-6; Acts 8:36-37; Matthew 3:15-17)
MAN: We believe that man is the direct creation of God—body, soul and spirit—and is not in any sense the result of evolution but is made in the image of God. Adam, the first man, sinned by disobedience. This act resulted in the fall of mankind and incurred both physical and spiritual death for all. (Genesis 1:26; Genesis 2:16-17; Genesis 3:1-19; Romans 3:23; Ephesians 2:1-3)
SALVATION: We believe that the Lord Jesus Christ died for our sins as a vicarious, substitutionary sacrifice, and that all who believe in Him are justified on the grounds of His shed blood. ( II Corinthians 5:21; I Peter 3:18; Romans 5:10; Romans 10:9-11)
LAST THINGS: We believe in the personal, pre-millennial and imminent return of our Lord Jesus Christ. We believe in the bodily resurrection of the just and unjust, the everlasting blessedness of the saved, and the everlasting punishment of the lost. (I Thessalionians 4:15-17; Ezekiel 37:21-28; Revelation 20:1-6; II Peter 3:10-13; II Corinthians 5:8; Philippians 3:21; Luke 16:22-23; Revelation 20:11-15)
THE CHURCH: We believe the New Testament church is a local body of believers; its mission is to witness concerning its head, Jesus Christ, preaching the Gospel among all nations. The Church is an autonomous body operating under the Lordship of Jesus Christ. All members of the Body are equal. God has provided for the operation of His Church pastors and deacons to care for the Body. (Matthew 16:15-19; Acts 2:41-42; Ephesians 1:22; Ephesians 4:11-12; I Timothy 2:5; 3:1-13)
SECURITY OF THE BELIEVER: We believe that all who receive by faith the Lord Jesus Christ are born of the Holy Spirit and thereby become children of God. We believe the grace of God to be sufficient for the maintenance of a godly walk, and that Christ and not the law is the believer’s rule of life. (John 1:12-13; 3:1-16; Romans 8:15-17; 8:31-39)
EVANGELISM: We believe one of the main functions of the Church is evangelism. All the saints are commanded to be witnesses. This witness is to be both corporate and individual. The role of the pastor is both to witness and to equip the saints to witness. (Acts 1:8; Ephesians 4:11-16)
